Have We Missed the Way of Jesus? Living Beyond Religion in the Rhythm of Love
Life doesn’t come with a map. Some days feel like you’re wandering through a maze—twists you didn’t expect, doors that lead nowhere, and signs that are too faded to read. I’ve been there—standing at a crossroads with no idea which way to go, fear pressing in, doubt whispering lies.
But in one of those disorienting moments, something unexpected happened—a gentle nudge, a return to stillness, a Presence. Loving. Peaceful. And unmistakably within me. Over time, I came to recognize that this Presence bore the quiet, undeniable signature of what Jesus called the Way.
But not the way most people imagine—not a list of rules to follow or doctrines to memorize. This Way is an awakening. A shift in awareness. A quiet unveiling of divine love that’s been here all along—closer than breath, deeper than thought, more real than fear.
When we awaken to this love, something changes. We begin to see differently. We notice the sacred in the ordinary. We feel the pulse of divine life around us and within us. We recognize the same love that Jesus revealed when he spoke of the Father—not as a distant being, but as the very source of our being.
To follow this Way is to surrender to the rhythm of love. It’s to let creation, healing, and restoration move through us—not someday in the sky, but here. Now. Each moment becomes an invitation to live from the core of who we truly are… to see the maze not as a trap, but as a canvas for Presence to unfold.
When Love Becomes Flesh, Life is Created

The first movement of love is creation. From the very beginning, love called the universe into being. This love is the organizing principle of all existence—the Logos—from which our world arises. We are told that this same Logos became flesh in Jesus, who embodied love in human form. In the same way, we are invited to let love become flesh through us. Every time we respond with kindness instead of judgment, every moment we listen with empathy instead of reacting in anger, love takes form. Life is created when we act from our awareness of oneness — when we recognize the same divine Presence in others that we know within ourselves.
I’ve seen this in the simplest of moments — when a genuine conversation brings comfort, when forgiveness mends a strained relationship, or when a small act of kindness reminds someone they are not alone. In these moments, love moves through us. It becomes tangible. And as we create life in this way, we are no longer just surviving the maze of existence — we are shaping it, illuminating it with the Presence of love.
When Love is Denied, Life Falls Apart
But I’ve also known what it’s like to deny love. Fear, resentment, and the illusion of separation can cloud my awareness of the Presence within. When I forget that I am already connected to the Source of Life, everything begins to fracture. The mind races with anxious thoughts, relationships become strained, and the world itself feels hostile.
Yet even when I deny love, it never leaves. The Way of Jesus has shown me that this Presence is not conditional. It doesn’t withdraw in response to my failures. It simply waits — unwavering and patient — for me to become aware of it once again.
In those moments when I become still, even for a breath, I often sense it again. The warmth of divine love, the gentle reminder that I am not separate, and the understanding that love remains — not just for me, but within me.
Following Jesus means recognizing when we have turned away from love and having the humility to turn back. Not with shame, but with the trust that every moment offers a new beginning. Love is always inviting us home.
When Love Goes to Work, Life is Healed
Healing is the natural expression of love when it is no longer resisted. Jesus’ life was a reflection of this truth — not only in physical healings but in the way he restored dignity to the outcast, lifted burdens of shame, and awakened people to their inherent worth. His presence was healing because it stirred an awareness of the divine essence within others.
I’ve experienced this kind of healing in my own life — not always in the absence of pain, but in the presence of peace that remains even when circumstances are difficult. Healing happens when I stop fighting against what is and instead allow love to meet me in the pain. It’s the inner shift from resistance to acceptance, from fear to trust. And often, it’s in that space that the deeper healing begins — the healing of the heart.
Following Jesus in this way means we become vessels of healing for others. When we listen without judgment, when we forgive freely, when we choose understanding over condemnation, love moves through us. And the beautiful thing about this kind of healing is that it’s never just for one person. The healing presence of love ripples outward, restoring relationships, families, and communities.
When Love is All in All, Life Becomes Heaven

There was a time when I thought heaven was a distant place, a reward waiting on the other side of life. But the way of Jesus has revealed something far greater — that heaven can be a present reality. When love is all in all, we awaken to the kingdom of God that has always been within us.
This doesn’t mean life becomes free of challenges. Pain, loss, and uncertainty still arise. But when we remain aware of the Presence of love, we face these experiences through a higher consciousness. There’s a deep peace that holds us, a joy that doesn’t depend on circumstances, and a clarity that cuts through the confusion.
To follow Jesus is to walk this Way — through the highs and lows, the uncertainties and joys. It’s not about perfection, nor is it about striving to become more spiritual. It’s about becoming aware.
Aware of the love that is always here. Aware of the Presence that moves through us. And aware that, no matter how lost we may feel, we are never separate from the divine Source of Life itself.
This is the Way of Jesus as I know it — a journey of awakening to love, again and again, until we see that we were never truly apart. And as we walk this path, we find that the maze of life is no longer something to escape. It becomes a sacred unfolding, a canvas for love to create, restore, heal, and make heaven known on earth.
